About Fox Cultural hall

Fox Cultural Hall is a 501(c)3 non-profit with the mission is to inspire, teach and build our rural communities through equitable access to the arts and arts education. Operating under the name Arts For The Schools for the last 40 years, we are now operating with a new name, and in a new home, Fox Cultural Hall. The hall is a 325-person capacity performance and event space located in North Lake Tahoe.  The hall will allow us to greatly expand our programs and offerings including live performances, master classes, workshops, teen clubs, and arts classes to our rural communities and schools.

Our team

Drew Fisher

Education coordinator

Drew is an event organizer, lighting designer and ski coach born and raised in the Sierra. His proudest achievements are co-founding the Lost Sierra Hoedown, and building a small home in Truckee with his wife Lauren. Drew believes that art and music play a critical role in building community, and he’s excited to apply his interdisciplinary skill set to his role as Education Coordinator at Fox Cultural Hall.

Ryan McKenzie

Executive Director

As a native to Lake Tahoe, Ryan McKenzie has worked in non-profit leadership and program development for over a decade, and he is deeply excited to be a part of the Fox Cultural Hall team. He is a musician, a writer, a lifetime learner, and a community advocate, and he passionately believes in the transformational power of the cultural arts. Ryan asserts that the public humanities can help to break down social barriers and promote community by bringing people together in unique, authentic ways, and he is confident that the mission of the Fox Cultural Hall can boldly serve both that vision and effort throughout the greater North Lake Tahoe Community.

Sarah Brown

Administrative & Venue Coordinator

Sarah Brown attend college in New Orleans, LA and received her BA in Economics and Social Policy from Tulane University in 2022. Sarah was born and raised in Truckee and a receipt of Arts For The Schools programming as a child. She loves art, music, and anything outdoors. She is excited to be back in Truckee and working with Fox Cultural Hall and arts programming.

40 Years of Expertise

Since 1984 we have operated, implemented and created new arts program in the Tahoe basin. We bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our work, allowing us to be effective and adaptive to community needs.

Since our founding we worked to promote cultural understanding with arts programming.We uphold the tenet of racial equity by delivering our programs and resources equitably, and take equity into account in our decisions.

Board of Trustees

Andrew Cross

Board Financial Officer

Andrew is a fourth generation Truckee local who was born and raised in Truckee. Andrew holds a UC Davis Civil Engineering Degree. In 2007 Andrew began his journey to transition to the presidency of Truckee Tahoe Lumber Co. through a management development program that required an MBA degree and working side-by-side with each employee at Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company in order to fully understand their role and importance in the company. He currently operates four locations.

Bethany Lund

Board Chair

Bethany moved to Tahoe in 1995 after graduating from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Liberal Arts. She and her artistic husband, Matt, started a photography and graphic design business in 1999. Bethany still works in the photography & design business and wears many other artistic hats: creative designer for Matt's custom metal fabrication business, art teacher, and professional artist for her business Modern Punk (an Etsy based business). Art has been her passion since she was a child and continues to play a very important role in hers and her family's lives.

Doug DeVore

Trustee

Douglas has directed, produced, and edited Emmy award winning children’s educational programming focusing on arts and education for PBS, NBC and Discovery. Doug currently works for Apple where he works with editors from the school level to major studios, and holds several patents for features used in editing software. Doug lives in Truckee with his beautiful family.
